FindHappyHour ("we", "us", "our") is a free, independent website that maps live pub and bar happy hours, currently focused on Manchester, UK. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the site, why, and what choices you have. We're a small, early-stage project - right now that means we collect very little, and this page is written to reflect that honestly rather than to cover every possibility a much larger company might need to.
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle information, email us at [email protected].
Browsing the map doesn't require an account, a name, or an email address. The only place we collect anything you type is the "Report an issue" button on a venue's happy hour details - if you use it, we store the reason you selected and any optional message you add, linked to that venue's listing. You don't need to give us your name or email to submit a report, and we don't ask for one.
If you email us directly (for example, to suggest a venue or ask a question), we'll obviously have your email address and whatever you wrote to us, for as long as is reasonably needed to reply and keep a record of the conversation.
Like almost any website, our hosting provider (Cloudflare) automatically logs standard technical information for every visit - things like IP address, browser type, and the pages requested - mainly for security, abuse prevention, and keeping the site running. We don't currently run any separate analytics, tracking, or advertising tools of our own on top of this.
The only thing we store in your browser ourselves is your light/dark mode preference, saved locally on your device so the site remembers your choice next time - it isn't sent to us and isn't used to identify or track you.
The map and the site itself rely on a small number of third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:
We don't control these services' own data practices - if you'd like more detail, their respective privacy policies are the right place to look.
We use the limited information described above only to:
We don't sell data, and we don't use anything you submit for advertising.
We share information only with the service providers named above (Cloudflare, Mapbox, Supabase), to the extent needed for them to do the job we use them for. We don't sell, rent, or otherwise share information with anyone else, except where we're required to by law.
Issue reports are kept for as long as they're useful for maintaining accurate listings, and are deleted once resolved and no longer needed. Emails are kept for as long as is reasonably necessary to handle the conversation and keep a record of it.
If you're in the UK or EU, data protection law (UK GDPR) gives you rights over any personal data we hold about you, including the right to ask what we hold, to correct it, or to have it deleted. Since we collect so little to begin with, most requests are simple for us to action quickly - email [email protected] and we'll sort it out.
FindHappyHour is a directory of alcohol venues and isn't intended for children. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, and the site isn't directed at children.
We take reasonable steps to protect the limited information we hold, but no method of storing or transmitting data over the internet is completely secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
As FindHappyHour grows - for example, if we introduce user accounts in a future version - this policy will need to grow with it. When we make changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be flagged clearly rather than buried in a date update alone.
Questions about this policy or your data are welcome any time at [email protected].
